About Bromley Mental Health Forum

Bromley Mental Health Forum is led by people with lived experience and takes place regularly, with some meetings online on Zoom and some in person at Community House Bromley (see meeting dates below).

This Forum is a space for conversations about your experiences of mental health services and changes we want to see. Issues raised are fed back to service providers and decision makers to ensure your voice is heard and to challenge and remove barriers.

In previous meetings, we have discussed areas including:

  • Severe underfunding of both adult and children’s mental health services, and how this leads to an overreliance on medication, with limited access to talking therapies, especially for people with complex needs, such as multiple diagnoses. Many of our members have shared experiences of being let down by a system that often lacks the resources, flexibility, and compassion needed to provide effective support.
  • Concerns about the lack of crisis care, and reports of poor treatment in inpatient units, including poor practices and environments that feel unsafe or disempowering.
  • Widespread lack of co-production in service design and delivery, meaning that people with lived experience are too often excluded from shaping the services they use.

We are actively engaging with local providers like Healthwatch Bromley, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and South East London Mind, including having speakers at our meetings for you to raise barriers you face directly.

We will continue hosting guest speakers to continue these important conversations and push for meaningful improvements.
