About Bromley Accessibility Forum

Bromley Accessibility Forum is led by people with lived experience and takes place regularly, with some meetings online on Zoom and some in person at Community House Bromley (see meeting dates below).

This Forum is dedicated to identifying and challenging access barriers that Disabled people face in the community. Issues raised are fed back to service providers and decision makers to ensure your voice is heard and to challenge and remove barriers.

We discuss all types of barriers, for example from previous meetings:

  • Lack of rest areas in supermarkets and shops.
  • No dedicated Deaf social worker in Bromley, leaving a significant gap in support for the local Deaf community.
  • Inaccessible letters and communications from businesses, e.g. utility companies, the council and NHS.
  • Lack of staff training on disability awareness.
  • Uneven pavements that are difficult to navigate.
  • Buses without working wheelchair ramps.
  • Lack of accessible public toilets in public spaces.

We have been proactive in raising these issues with decision-makers. Local councillors have joined our discussions, and we have hosted a session with Thomas Turrell, London Assembly Member for Bexley and Bromley, to talk about accessibility challenges and potential solutions.

We are committed to engaging with Bromley Council and supporting local campaigns to improve accessibility across the borough. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can participate fully in community life.
